About ME
Hey! I’m Charlie, a 3D artist passionate about games and the work that goes into making them. Currently looking to break into the industry with my first full time 3D / technical art role.
Ever since I started playing games, I've been fascinated with the way they work and trying to build my own. I would always think about the kinds of games or mods I would make, and actually started doing so when I learned about ActionScript, turning my stick figure Flash animations into interactive experiences. I also started to become curious about 3D art, but had no idea where to begin.
In my freshman year of high school, a senior student encouraged me to join his animation club, and my passing interest in 3D became a full-blown obsession. Through this club, I learned about 3D modeling, rigging, and animation, and soon realized how the tools and techniques I was learning could be applied to building games. Since then, I've been consistently expanding my repertoire of toolsets and learning how the games I love to play are built!
My background is primarily in 3D modeling, but I've picked up many other related skills over the years that make me invaluable as a technical artist or 3D generalist. I'm currently focusing on technical art, and have gotten very interested in using UE5 to create interesting & unique systems for my projects!
I'm currently working on my solo UE5 project, Microcosmonaut, a game that puts you in the shoes of a microorganism trying to survive a dangerous and mysterious world. Check out my site to see more!
